Goo Goo Dolls - Name
From where I’m standing the Goo Goo Dolls are a “nearly-band”. Success over here in the GB was fleeting, with only a few knowing their biggest tune Iris, released 1998. “Name” was released 2 years prior to “Iris” and never made a dent in the UK top 40.
The song is recorded in a quite accomplished acoustic stlye, with the distinctive sound of a drop D tuned 12-string throughout. The 12-string influence gives the song a full feel, and the simple, slow, walking baseline is perfectly matched on all levels.
